Highland is a "We School"
In December, our WE Group shared information and ideas about Free the Children's "Adopt-a-Village" Program with the entire school and Highland students voted to focus on raising money to promote improved healthcare in Kenya. Since then, our WE Group has grown and includes many enthusiastic students with creative ideas for how to raise money for this worthy cause. Every year, 9.2 million children die before the age of 5. Most of these deaths are in the developing world and could have been prevented with medical treatment. By donating money to the Healthcare Pillar of the "Adopt-a-Village" Program, we will promote health through providing money for:
community gardens; mobile health clinics; basic medical supplies; healthcare training and workshops on preventable diseases; tree planting; and sports equipment to promote physical fitness. (To learn more about "Free the Children", go to www.freethechildren.com) Students' most popular idea for raising money was to share their many talents and make items that we could sell. Presently, our WE Group is very busy creating a variety of crafts. Watch for details about our amazing upcoming sale!
School Website   (listed below) When you are not sure about dates of activities at Highland school please check the website to see if what you need is there. All PA days are also listed. We try to keep it as current as possible. It just helps with the hundreds of calls that go through the office every day if you are able to get your questions answered via the Internet. Thank you for your help.
